The Incoming Harvest
We are in the warping time of summer – somehow bending and flowing through periods of lounging in the heat and putting in hours and hours (and hours, and hours) at the studio as we get ready for the next series of shows – and our first installation.
The studio becomes hard to leave in the summer. Long days in the countryside invite us to take our time at the indigo vat, play with new dyestuff (like lac, which comes from a bug and emits a dynamic pink we can’t stop looking at), salvage the remaining pigments from botanical dye baths and make lake pigments (seen above are the yellow pigments extracted from a weld dye bath, drying in a ragtag team of thrifted collanders), hit the thrift store, walk with horses in the field, pick up a $6 sandwich at a roadside barbeque or visit the drive-through ice cream barn…. we’re making the most of it while the days are long & the getting is good. And it is so good.
⊹ You’re Invited…
We are excited to announce that we are having a show at Paulownia Projects, a new gallery in West Philadelphia located at 4740 Baltimore Ave. This will be our first installation and will include our biggest work to date – and six of them.
The show is open to the public starting Friday, September 6th, from 5-8PM. The Gallery is open Thursdays 12-4, Fridays 5-8, and Saturdays 12-4.
We should note that we are still ironing out a few details for the show, and will follow up in the next week or two with more information. Of course we are too excited not to put this on your radar as soon as possible… stay tuned…
⊹ Fall Show Schedule

In less than two weeks we are back on the road to visit art festivals in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Find us at the following shows through the end of the Summer into late Fall:

September 27-28: Armonk Outdoor Art Show in Armonk, NY
October 11-12: Bruce Museum Art Festival in Greenwich, CT

See you there!

A Note on Commissions + Shipping
Several folks have asked us if we could recreate a painting in a particular color scheme or in a particular size. Barring some constraints: yes, we would love to create a piece to harmonize your space. If you are located within 100 miles of Philadelphia, we can deliver and install your painting once it is complete. We are able to pack and ship our paintings. If you are interested in a commission, or having a piece shipped to your home, please contact us directly at studio@thoughtforms.art or by responding to this email.

⊹ Soon is Good, Sooner is best
We are heading out on Tuesday for a week backpacking in the Montana Wilderness with family, and are excited for a few days offline to center ourselves before the fall season is fully upon us. May your last days of summer be filled with sun and good harvest.
With gratitude,
Bixa + Dan
