Summer Solstice

Hi everyone – we hope you’re excited for the Summer solstice this Thursday. In our neck of the woods, the daylight is expected to last for about 15 delicious hours. Nature doesn’t seem to be rushing this time of year, although many of us are busy busy. We’re excited to lounge in the sun and tinker in our countryside studio as we prepare for upcoming shows.

We first want to give a huge, bold, italic, underlined thank you to everyone who visited our booth last weekend at the Rittenhouse Art Fair. Many pieces walked out of our booth and are now enjoying new lives in your beautiful homes.

June 28th// Polly Apfelbaum: For the Love of Una Hale Book Party

We were invited by our friend Polly Apfelbaum to DJ at her book party on Friday, June 28th at the new Ulises location in Fishtown. Polly is a huge influence on our work and we love love love that we get to hang out, play music, and celebrate our friend’s accomplishments. The last time we DJ’d for Polly was at her birthday party upstate. She requested everyone wear togas and gave us some drop cloths from her iconic “splat” series to wear at the DJ booth.

Perhaps our togas will make a reappearance… you’ll have to come to find out.

This publication is a comprehensive document of Polly Apfelbaum’s 2020-22 ceramics residency at Arcadia University and resulting installations (exhibited in the spring of 2022) in conjunction with a curated survey of works by folk artist David Ellinger (1913-2003).

The book features over 160 illustrations, including color photographs of each of the 63 ceramic works Apfelbaum presented as well as multiple installation views along with documentation of two wallpaper projects. Reproductions of 40 works by Ellinger are also included.

The event runs from 6-9PM and is happening at 1525 North American Street Studio 104 Philadelphia, PA 19122. Please RSVP if you can make it. We’d love to see you.
